Painting Ceilings Same Color as Walls?

Question

Hello, I'm working on a project right now, and the walls in each of the rooms are painted similar colors (shades of a light grey), however, the ceilings were left an offwhite color. Is this recommended to leave it like this (looks like it was recently painted and the walls are in good condition), or should I paint the ceilings to match the wall colors? Thanks!

Agree with everyone else. I always have flat, bright white ceilings...it "lifts" the room.

A lot of new builds in Texas have standard one color paint for walls and ceilings.  If you want white ceilings you have to pay extra.  A lot of people here don't pay extra for it.....and we are talking $300+ homes too.  Depends on the area but for lower end flips and rentals I think it is fine to go one color.  Mid to high end I'd think twice and spend the extra $$

I have painted ceilings the same color as the walls in several rooms in a house that I have lived in. This can be a good and bad.  People tend to default to white as it makes it brighter.   Painting the ceiling affects the ominous you want to create but so does color.  Restaurants paint the ceilings a lot for example.

Closets I think is ok to paint the ceiling the same color as the walls.  Saves time.  I had to paint the ceiling the same color as the walls in the living room (12x18) due to cove ceiling.  No place to stop the color.  Looked awesome!   Color is Benjamin Moore Reserve Pewter.  I did this in foyer as well (6x8) with 3 walls with windows and typical flat ceiling.  Looked good as well as it leads into the living room.   Bathroom (8x5) I painted blue, it looked good but did make the room look smaller and darker.  It wasn't a hit like the other rooms.  I will be repainting the room this weekend to Reserve Pewter due to shower reno.

I have done this (paint ceilings and walls the same color) and it looked nice BUT the wall color was "swiss coffee" (a k a White)
