Hello Biggerpockets,

I am doing my first flip and really need advice from the professionals. I need help with bathroom design. More specifically, what kind of tiles are good on the floor as well as the wall next to the shower. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

@Zain B.

I'd suggest you get the Pinterest and Houzz apps on your phone/tablet and spend a little time looking through them to see what's popular right now in general. But the most accurate way to get an idea of design is to see what is being done in the areas in which you plan to flip. Look at recently-sold properties online and spend some hours or days going through the pictures of the remodeled homes and use that as a template for you own design.

I can easily say marble tile is great for floors and walls in a bathroom but if the neighborhood doesn't call for it, don't waste your time trying to overdesign such an area. In general, lighter colors tend to be better and 12x24 ceramic/porcelain tile is somewhat popular as well as subway tile but I don't know what works in Jersey City as I have never done research on that market.
