Checking for Gas Leaks
When you turn on the gas that has been off in a vacant property, are gas leaks a concern? How can you tell if there are any leaks?

I don't think they are a common thing. There are several ways you can check, depending upon how much effort you want to put into it.
Sniff. While Nat Gas is odorless, they put in a chemical that smells.
Call the Utility or HVAC or Plumber. They have "sniffers" that can detect very small leaks.
Mix dish soap and water in a spray bottle. When sprayed on pipe joints, the mixture will bubble where a leak is. You can also find pre-mixed versions at home centers.
