home depot rta cabinets?

Question

I am in the process of remodeling a 1-family house for rental and it needs new kitchen cabinets.  Has anyone here used the RTA cabinets that you can purchase in store at home depot?  Is there a difference between these cabinets and the ones you can order on their website?  Also has anyone done a comparison, price and quality wise, between home depot's rta cabinets and other online sources such as rtacabinets.com.  The home depot cabinet design person quoted me roughly $2400 for a particular model i liked.  My kitchen is approximately 10 x 10.  any advice is greatly appreciated!  I just wanted the best value RTA cabinets available.  v/r rob

Check out Fabuwood, an importer of great quality RTA cabs. They're at least as nice as Kraftmaid and far better than the usual big box store stock cabs. I get them already assembled from the distributor.

RTA cabinets are great. It comes in flat pack boxes and they are fairly easy to assemble, not to mention it will save you a lot of money. Many people think RTA is a cheap cabinet, but that is not the case. It's cheap in price compared to custom cabinetry, but not quality. All the RTA cabinets we distribute are all solid wood, plywood box, dovetail construction with soft closing doors and drawers. I would advise you to look for the same in quality when shopping for your next flip in your local area. Good luck!

thanks for the reply!  Well i kind of was leaning a little more towards rta cabinets.   I know they are generally made with real plywood inside as opposed to particle board or furniture board.  So no problem with quality or longevity? I am not opposed to them but have just heard the quality can be rather poor.

We use Home Depot pre fabricated cabinets and then hire a finish carpinter to install them. That doesn't give you too much variety in terms of style. However, it's cheap and the carpinter makes it look pretty. And keep in mind that white shaker cabinets are classic and that's typically one of the options.
