Trim: White or Wood

What does everyone think about white trim? Is it an easy way to cover up old window trim and scratched doors, or is this just a fad that nobody is going to want in a year? I have alot of old windows that I could either refinish or just sand and paint them a white color. I would really like to get some other opinions.
