Water in Crawl Space

Hello BP ,

I am Rehabbing a House in Norfolk VA and there were a lot of on and off rainfall in the area for last couple of weeks and now there is 3 to 4 inches of water accumulated in the crawl space. Its been few days now and the water is still there. I called the crawl company and they said we need to install sump pump and there is no other way to fix the problem ,it will cost me $3300.

My question is , if there is any other way we can fix the problem or sump pump is the only way.

It is an old house and crawl space is very small as per the inspector.

Any help will be appreciated.

The price doesn't seem out of line, but I'd get another quote to be sure.

Make sure they (or you) also address directing water away from the house. Gutters cleaned, etc.
