Worth buying for a flip?

Question

Glass top of stove is cracked. Any of you have experience with this? Wasnt sure if it would be too expensive to fix.

Whirlpool stainless stove/oven.

I have no clue what the cost would be to fix this but just generally speaking, you must consider the time it takes to buy this unit, research the repair costs, get it repaired, store it, and then deliver it to the next job site. Doing all of this to save like $50 or $100 bucks (as a guess) is not worth the time and efforts. In other words, don't jump over a quarter to pick up a dime. Buy new with all your other kitchen appliances and have all delivered at once, no storage, no extra time, etc. Spend your time managing deals and finding deals.

@Charlie DiLisio @Brian H. I'm kind of assuming, but the way I read the post is would it be worth it to purchase the broken stove and get it repaired to put it in a flip. I personally have never fixed a broken electric stove top but in conversations with others I believe it is relatively inexpensive ($200ish) in which case you're coming out on top. Might also want to figure out if you are at the mercy of someone else the timing of the whole ordeal and the pros and cons of waiting.

I'll echo what @Will Barnard said.  I used to spend a lot of time doing things like this back when I had more free time.  Bargain shopping.  It seemed like a genius and frugal move, but only because I wasn't putting a value on my time.

I spent $10k this summer at building supply liquidation auctions.  Some purchases were totally worth the hassle of freighting them home, storing them, and then moving them to the job site and installing them.  I was able to buy 4 pallets of crown moulding and various trim for $100 a pallet.  However, other purchases weren't worth the hassle and often times  made the projects much harder because we'd have to figure out how to make things.  Such as cutting down doors to height and then building the frames, and drilling the holes/ cutting the jambs.  Yes, I got the door for $15, but after our time is factored in, it often would have been cheaper had I just bought the right sized door w/ frame at Lowes or Home depot.

Now I try to follow the 80/20 rule and focus my time on finding and locking down deals, rather than hitting up every hardware stores clearance bin, looking for a deal that I'll make work in some apartment sometime.  It's just not worth the hassle.

@Patrick Collins  You are correct. I was looking to possibly get it repaired and use it in a later flip even. Figure if I see something like that it isn't bad idea to grab it?  I have a storage unit in which I can store it. Just was curious if anyone had experience getting that part of an oven/stove repaired and how much it ran for them.

No,  it will make other items to be questioned by your potential buyer.  IMO I would rather not have a stove to have a damaged one.  Kitchens and bathrooms sell houses.  Good luck.
