kitchen cabinet preferences

has anyone ever used unassembled cabinets vs stock cabinets from your local Lowes or Home Depot? Im not so sure the difference in price will warrant a savings when we have to assemble them all vs just buying them and then installing them but my counter part constantly is notorious for making MORE work for us than saving time effectively. Any thoughts?

I've found most local retailers of RTA will assemble them for for a modest fee.  I would stay away from the particle board cabs from the big boxes and find all wood RTA's.  There's a ton of threads on the various RTA vendors.
