What do you think of laundry in the kitchen?

Question

I am about to rehab an entire 2,600 SF 4 bed three bath with two master bedrooms, I would like to incorporate a front load washer and dryer into the kitchen cabinets. The kitchen is now a 10x10 size and the laundry room would open up 5’ feet more kitchen space making it 15’ wide. In addition removing that wall would free up space for an island and allow a second kitchen sink where the old laundry wash tub was.

I really don’t know where else I could put the laundry room that would look like the house came that way. I have seen a few pictures of this setup on Houzz.

What do you guys think?

With a 2600 sq.ft. house I would not do this.  In a 900 sq.ft. house, perhaps.  Growing up the washer and dryer were in the living room of our house.  One pair of grandparents had them near their kitchen, but in a closed off pantry.  The other grandparents had them in the bathroom.  With older houses you had to make due.  But in a new rehab of a big house like you have, this seems like a hack.  I think you'll turn off some buyers.  And, with two masters, you already have a limited pool of buyers.

Hard to visualize what you're describing.  But one of my recent flips had the washing machine in the kitchen and we relocated it to the garage.  Definitely opened up more room in the kitchen and I'm glad we did.

Something about a 2600 SF 4/3 house sounds like a nice big house. Something about laundry in the kitchen sounds like something I would see in a very small house (I have only ever seen it in a 700 SF apartment). In the whole rest of the house you don't have space to steal for a washer and dryer behind a pair of doors? I would lean towards no, but agree I'd need to see the situation to decide.
