Granite vs laminate countertops for resale value?

Hi all,

I purchased my first house (primary residence) and I’m going to be redoing the kitchen in the next few months. I’m just not sure what is going to be the better option for me. I was quoted 3300 for granite countertops at Home Depot installed for 56 sqft of countertops. The price for laminate was 1500. The house was purchased for 220k last year. Comps range from 190k that need to be completely redone to about 250k. I’m on a budget and was quoted with cabinets and grabite counter tops $9200. I’m a little hesitant if it would be worth it in the end if we did the granite and sold it.

What do your comps/competitors have in their houses?  Do that.  Or expect to sell for less than your comps/competitors.
