removing kitchen cabinets

HELP!

We are removing the kitchen cabinets in a house and have not removed cabinets from a house with soffits.  Generally we can pull the cabinets off, or  unscrew them,  But this house has striped screws.  When we try to pull the cabinets down, the soffits started to pull down from the ceiling,

So, how do you remove cabinets when there is a soffit?

Either rebuild the soffit or try an oscillating tool to cut the screws. You should be able to turn the screws out with locking pliers.
