Kitchen cabinet finishes....what are you using?

We have been using the white cabinets on smaller kitchens and using the cognac (more like espresso) in larger kitchens. I know it might be regional, but what finishes have y'all had positive feedback?

When we replace cabinets, we typically go with a cherry finish.  A lot of buyers assume they are more upscale, because you typically don't see this finish on cabinets from big box stores.

Cherry is also popular in my area.  I use a cherry cabinet with light colored granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and ceramic tile floor.  For the first time buyer market I'm in (95-110k) it's really the kitchen that gets all the comments and seals the deal for us.  It also takes up about 25% of my typical rehab budget.

Espresso is great for hiding all problems and wear. Also looks high end on wood floors plus it covers up pet and water stains.

I think that this approach to lighting is too-often overlooked.  It's really not very costly as long as you plan ahead (much, much easier to wire it up before the cab/backsplash install).

I go the same route as J  Scott, Replacements get Cherry.  Refinish or paint get espresso.

We always install under cabinet lighting which also makes a big difference. I get them from HD and they cost about $15 each. If the ceiling is high enough, we always put rope lights on top of the cabinets too.

Glad you posted a pic!  The light color here helps to reflect light, making it look that bit bigger. Nicely done.
