What to do about brownish well water

Question

I am going to rent out my first investment house and the only thing wrong with it is it sometimes has slightly brown well water. I know this only happens sometimes, but I am afraid the renters will have a fit. Do those filtering systems work for a problem like this?

Does the water leave a stain in your toilets? Toilet tank? Toilet bowl?
In your dishwasher?

When it comes out brownish is it both hot AND cold? or just one?

These are important questions as the "fix" for this type of thing can vary WIDELY.

What a relief to know there is something that can be done. It doesn't really affect anything, like clothes or taking a shower. It just may be a little strange to a new renter. It does not smell. Thanks for the tips, everbody.

If the water smell rotten, it has sulfter and I believe is only curable with a carbon filter system of some sort.

If it is just brownish in color, like suggested previously use an in line water filter BEFORE the air pressure bladder.  I recommend two in line filters.  One at 20 micron and the second at 5 micron.  These filters will need to be changed monthly maybe even sooner.  When they are changed the water will be dirty for a day or becuase you are agitating the sediment in the water system.  The filters typically cost around 5-7 dollars a pair.  All this can be found at Lowes or Home Depot.  I also recommend notifying the renter that there are water issues and you are not responsible for clothes damaged by it from washing.  Maybe you have something in your contract already.

If you are looking for a capital investment in the house, call a water specialist and get a high tech system, but my experience with both methods is the inline filter is the best system.

Yes, somewhat. An inline filter and/or a water conditioner will mostly solve the problem. It'll probably still have some taste/color.
