Hi All!

What screw do you use to screw wood blocking into a metal stud?

Also, which screw do you use to screw a floating vanity into the wood blocking?

There is wood blocking that is 2x6 and 1x6 in my wall.

@Rik Patel

You don’t want the self drilling screw. They are great for metal, but suck for wood. Their threads are too small.

Pre drill a small hole if you have to. But just use a regular coarse thread drywall screw to attach the blocking to the stud.

For the floating vanity you should use a small lag bolt or a large screw. Screws are generally not strong enough. Most times the vanity comes with its own mounting hardware.

PS I have been a commercial general contractor for over 20 years.
