Getting Started - Property Management

Hello!

I'm looking to get started in REI, in my hometown of Cincinnati (this is my first post here!). After doing a lot of research, I plan on investing in a few SFHs (and possibly a duplex or two). Due to health and time issues, I will require a Property Management company to manage the tenants and property.

Right now I am still in the analyzing phase, trying to understand the local market, and what is available. My question is: at what point should I try to find a property manager? I'm afraid I'll buy a place, only to find that it's outside the boundaries or interest of a good PM, but at the same time, I not sure if I should contact a PM before I even have a property to manage.

Any suggestions? (And recommendations for property managers in the area would be welcome as well!)

I recommend shopping around for property managers first. Inquire about their skills, schedules, additional services, location, etc. Worst case scenario, if you're not quite ready to hire them, you can always let them know you'll be in touch in the near future or that you won't need their services. It can never hurt to just gather information first though. Knowledge is power...best of luck!
