Landscaping for a steep yard

Hey all,

I have a SFR I purchased this winter. The front yard is steep, and so the landscaper the PM uses thinks that it is too steep for mulch or rock, and that I should keep grass and get it mowed. ($35 every 10 days).

Does anyone have suggestions for other options for low maintenance landscaping I could use?  Appreciate it.
