Older Arlington, TX home

Hi BP, I'm looking at purchasing an older home in central Arlington (built in the 50s) and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on: what type of issues do you run into on maintaining an older home? any issues getting tenants in central arlington?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Bruce,

I am a buy and hold investor and typically buy older homes. From my experience that age always has a pluming issue. If the sewer line has not been replaced do it while renovating before you have a tenant in the house. In the 50's it will have cast iron pipe which rusts over time and after seventy years will have holes and cracks. Also I prefer pier and beam because slab was typically badly installed at that time. Typically No rebar and very thin. Also in Arlington they allowed aluminum wire until the late 60's. It is notorious for stating fires so have the electrical inspected. About tenants everywhere is good as long as you do your due diligence on finding a good tenant. Good luck.
