Investment Property in Austin - recommendations

Hey folks. New to the forum and BP, looking to source some advice from Austin MSA veterans.

I am researching investment properties (leaning SFH, buy and hold for at least 5-7 year) in Greater Austin. Would love opinions on what area/neighborhood/city would be the best bet. Looking in the the $250-300k range. Would appreciate decent cash flow, but much more focused on potential for appreciation.

I will be investing from California so any tips and tricks on owning and managing property in TX would also be much appreciated.

@Shahzad Shaikh You aren’t going to find many properties in the Austin metro in the $250k-$300k price range unless you look to the smallest towns on the outskirts of the area (Manor, Elgin, Taylor, Kyle, Jarrell). I also would not expect any cash flow unless you plan on putting more than 25% down or are planning a decent rehab to increase rent returns. You will be trying to purchase in the lowest priced tier of homes in the metro so expect a lot of competition.

If you want to try and find cash flow and stay in this price tier, I would look to small and mid-sized communities like Killeen, Temple, Bryan/College Station, and Corpus Christi as examples.
