SLC Property Sale History

Andrew Alday
Posted

Hi everyone! I'm fairly new to real estate investing. I'm eventually looking to house hack in the SLC area, but I'm educating myself while I build up some capital to do my first deal. How do you find the sale history for a property in SLC? I'm looking at the SLC assessor site, but I only see "Value History" rather than "Sale History". Other websites such as Zillow and Realtor don't seem to always have this information either. I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

Andrew,

Other folks can correct me if I am wrong but what I learned in the process of buying my first house hack is that Utah is not a disclosure state, meaning that prior sales are not public record. We had a similar issue finding historical sale prices and it was only my realtor who was able to get that information for reviewing comps when we were trying to figure our what properties might appraise for. Not sure if he had access to this thru the MLS or not.

Hope this helps a little.

Chris
