Real Estate workshops

Last night I attended a build your life real estate workshop, and they gave a basic seminar. Then they tried to get you to drop 2,800 dollars for a 3 day tutorial/class to be successful in real estate investing. Just curious if anyone has heard of them. We're they just gurus to scam you for your money, or did I just miss a great opportunity?
