Eddie Speed

Real Estate Guru, Book & Course Reviews and Discussions 9 Replies

Have any of you interacted or done business with Eddie Speed? He has a "NoteSchool" of sorts and is a fellow TCU grad. Dave Van Horn recommended him on LinkedIn and I know people on the board have recommended Dave Van Horn.

We have a call tomorrow at his request so I just wanted to get some thoughts or feedback if anyone had any to share.

His first intro class is around 1k, you spend 3 days listening to him. After that, he tries to sell you his mentoring program for 10k.

Eddie has probably brokered more notes than anyone still alive. Eddie is worth it but I refuse to pay that kind of money for any course.

Just to be clear...I am not paying for a course. I am not sure what all he wants to talk about, but I assume it has something to do with our fund.

Eddie Speed is the best in the business. He's forgotten more about note buying than most people have ever learned about it. I've known Eddie for over 15 years. He's honest as the day is long. May I suggest; if you are going to take Eddies corse (at what ever price he charges)and you don't make your money back... you either have a comprehension problem, bad communication skills or you did not apply yourself. Eddies theories will work if you work them. No one's theories will work if you don't work them. I find that most people are not willing to put in the sudy time and the pure work time to make any course work. It's the 80% / 20% rule at best and probably more like the 90% / 10% rule. I've created and sold my fair share of notes 100's. I've bought my fair share of notes. Eddie is dead on! You want to learn from the very best, Eddie is dedicated, life long professinal. I don't know what else to tell someone.

Sounds like he's pulling a FAST one!!!!!

I did an interview with Eddie today for my weekly biggerpockets seller financing column. Look for it coming soon. It was a really fun interview.

Your name came up in our conversation a few weeks back Kevin.

What is funny is that Eddie told me he inspired Phill Grove's MAPS/AMPS system too. Small world!

Bryan, I had taken Eddie's 3 day course & I learned a few things & met some great folks, whom I still do business with today. He does seem to come more from the "Seller Financed" space & I operate more on the "institutional" side. I never did take any of his coaching though, so I can't really say what that entails. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback Dave. I don't intend to take his course, but we may eventually put some money to work with him via our fund if we take on some principals engaged in discounted note purchases.
