In the end it comes down to skill, lighting and post production, after a certain price point compatibility of items for desired effect is more realistic a factor than the price point itself..my numbers were for the most part, simply to put it in perspective. I have seem some amazing work done with just an Iphone, comparable or even in some cases surpassing that of a normal rig...you can youtube search for examples. In fact for slow motion video you cant get on par with a new iphone, until you hit studio level recording gear.

I certainly agree, if you need quality photos for luxury home listings or whatever, you may certainly get better value out of hiring a "guy" for a hour...

But if you want to dabble in amateur video/photography and or spruce up the quality of your quick pics, you cant go wrong with an iphone (and a cradle, and a lens, and several lighting options, and a class, and a book, and a desire to learn the skill)

I have to disagree, the Iphone (not the android) camera, is on par with quality $700-$1000 cameras.

I have spent over a year researching my opinion, and playing with different techniques and as such I feel your opinion on this topic is outdated and based on negative product bias. I agree a cell phone camera is crap, an IPHONE does not use a normal cell phone camera :) the camera in the iphone rivals that of a dslr.

not even close. you might get close in quality when viewing on a cell phone, which is irrelevant anyway, but a dslr will outperform any cell phone for days.

what you're suggesting is that a $50 guitar and an $8000 guitar are equal because they can both play a G cord in tune.

if you just want better snaphots a wide angle lens might help a bit.

If you want professional photography, no cell phone can come close to an experienced photographer and his tools (16-35mm, tilt shifts, off camera flash, etc)

That said, because of cell phones so many people are used to seeing AWFUL photography 24/7 it's become hard for them to understand the difference LOL

@Anthony Kelley, I don't consider the $700-$1000 cameras to be good enough either.  The lens the photographer uses (12mm-22mm) is $1,700 alone and that's how he captures these small bathrooms, walk-in closets, etc. and makes them look amazing. He bounces flash off of walls to make the rooms bright. He takes bracketed images so that you can see the room well lit PLUS the view out of the window.  You cannot do that with an iPhone.

I really don't want to sound harsh but photos are what sell property. Realtors aren't photographers and an iPhone isn't a camera. This is one area where I really wouldn't cut costs if I were you.  Now, if you have the time to buy a great camera, lens, flashes, tripod, etc. and take a legitimate photography course, it could be beneficial.  However, I'd still rather use my time doing lead generation than taking pictures. I'll leave that to the pros.
