How Many People Visit Your Sites From Smartphones?

Mobile browsing is where the internet is going.  It's the next big thing (it's really already here but it is just going to get bigger).

I'm curious for those of you that track your websites what percentage of your visitors are looking at your site on a smart phone?

Less than 2% of our visits come from mobile devices. And those are evenly split between Android and iPhone.
          
          We mostly have lower-end rentals at this time though.

I have mostly B and C+ tenants and about 1/4 of my traffic comes from mobile devices. (data from Google analytics) I use Postets along with Vyoo.it to promote my apartments.  Vyoo.it is a great site which redirects people searching for your apartment on a mobile devices to a very friendly mobile page.  Vyoo also gives you you a QR code along with a sort URL.  I post the QR code along with the short URL and a paper print out of my apartment on the front glass so passer by's and people taking a drive by first can see what the inside looks like.  Mobile apps are here to stay.  Some great apps will be able to show you all of the apartments in a given area while you are there and direct you to them.  Now if we only had some type of system like Zipcar has we would be all set :)

Great question Will.  My REI website is brand new (we're talking new car smell new) so I don't have and stats to share w/ you but I, as a mobile phone user, browse web pages via my iPhone constantly.

My day job has me tracking this on our website on a weekly basis and we've see a regular uptick in the number of mobile browsers; especially over the past 6-9 months.

I don't think I can post URLs but if you Google ipadpeek you can see what your site looks like on the new iPad.  I was told today that this isn't a "mobile" device in terms of web browsing (no explanation was given to me to further explain that) but it's probably worth a minute of your time to make sure your website checks out.

You ask a very valid question but web site tracking is something that a person has to be somewhat knowledgeable about in order to answer your question. If you are using your website to market and promote your business then it's becoming more critical to have this information. I think that is why we are seeing the proliferation of "internet marketing" type businesses and jobs. Seven years ago nobody really talked about search engine optimization (SEO) in the general public know it's the buzz phrase of the moment.
