Getting your license

I'm looking for advice from investors in Washington, I'm in Spanaway, who have gotten their real estate license. I've been hearing in the pod casts people recommend getting your real estate license. I've also heard if you do you have to work for a brokerage firm. I have a full time job and don't plan to quit anytime soon. If I pursue my license it would be for access to the MLS. How do I find out what the requirements are for licensed agents in Washington and would you recommend pursuing a license?
