Hey guys!! I'm new to the Biggerpockets forum and I've been listening to some Podcasts, they're amazing!

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Ronald and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm 23 and I've decided to take a look into Real Estate investing about a month ago I was blessed with finding the Biggerpockets website while I was simply searching for books to read.

I've partially read The Ultimate Beginner's guide to real estate investing by Brandon Turner, I'm loving it so far. I'm excited to find out more and to learn more about Real Estate Investing, cheers guys

Hey @Ronald Huynh ! Welcome and good luck!! BP is a great place to learn and get assistance.

Welcome Ronald.
It is great you are discovering it so early in your life and will not waste years. By the time you are 30 you maybe living on your own terms!

Thanks @Marlon Fong I'm excited to learn more from the experts in this amazing community!

@Katrina Malyn thank you!! How are you finding the Australian real estate market so far? I am still in the midst of doing my research haha any tips for a newbie? :D

Welcome!

What's it like in Australia? What's the average price for a home? Multifamily home?

@John Burtle

Median for a SFR in Sydney is $1m.

As for multifamily, there is no such thing here as apartment complexes. There may be older smaller multi-family buildings owned by one owner but there aren't complexes that could be classified as C class with onsite manager. I never heard about this phenomenon before getting onto Bigger Pockets. Why are you interested?

Welcome Ronald!

Glad to see another Aussie on Bigger Pockets! I'm from Sydney, but currently living & working in Vancouver, Canada, as a Property Manager. I'll be looking to invest when I come home in a few years.

If you haven't read it already, 0 to 130 properties in 3.5 years by Steve McKnight is a great Australian book on how to build a larger portfolio that I highly recommend if your looking for cash flow, buy and hold properties. It has some great information on how to structure your investment portfolio from a legal and tax perspective. Other than that, I'm sure you've heard of Rich Dad Poor Dad and the Cash Flow Quadrant by Robert T. Kiyosaki recommended on the podcast. I highly recommend them as well, they will give you a different perspective and get you thinking like an investor.

Looking forward to hearing about your progress! Until then, keep learning.

Sam

Welcome to the world of Bigger Pockets mate,

If only other Aussie investors knew about this forum years ago before they got scammed.

There would be much less heartache going around.

Well done on getting amongst it at such a young age.

Much success

Ronald -

As an American living in Sydney I was happy to come across your post on BP and see another investor living in Australia interested in the U.S. real estate market! The site is a great resource.
