Kansas City - Looking to Start

Nick W.
Posted

Hey all! Just starting to get my feet wet with Real Estate and trying to learn as much as I can. Currently looking at the KC area and hoping to start my journey as a buy and hold long term investor/landlord. Ideally single family homes. I have a ton of questions about the area and experiences investing here and would love to get in touch with someone in the area.

Thanks to everyone. I'll be sure to get in touch with you all in a few days. Currently a bit busy with primary job #1, but will have some time coming up to learn more. I will say I am definitely in the gathering information phase here. I just watched the majority of the presentation by @Andrew Syrios and his family which did answer a LOT of questions. If anyone is willing to answer a quick one here, something that seems to come up is....

How common/uncommon would it be to find a good investment property here? I've seen some examples of an investor finding a 500k place for 300k, putting in 60k of improvements, then renting for 3,000/month. Seems incredible! but also seems kind of unlikely?

Thanks Nick! I'm glad to hear those presentations were helpful. If anyone else is interested, you can see them here: https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/4837/43935-everything-you-want-to-know-about-buy-and-hold-real-estate-presentation

It's tougher to find such deals in this market and you'll have to dig more (probably do some direct-to-seller marketing), but there are always great deals out there.
