ADU income/value [Santa Barbara]

My wife and I have been home owners in Santa Barbara, CA for about a year now and are considering adding an ADU in our backyard (it is R-2 zoned).

My realtor had mentioned that ADUs can add significant value to the property overall, but we're looking for longer term cashflow. We'd like to rent it as a short term option (or long term depending)

Is this information accurate and what are others experiences with ADUs in terms of additional value?
