How do i select an agent

Question

Hello, I am a first time property buyer and investor. I have started the process and hunting for a multi family property. I have now been pre-approved by a lender but am have reservations on who I trust to help me in purchasing.

I have spoken with a few realtors and no one has really wowed me. I have tried to set up a meetings to decide if I want to partner with them and all have express a want to just meet at a first property i find of their site.

I have tried to convey my goals and the  three I have spoken with have not even tried to sell me on why I should trust them with making such a large financial decision.

Picking a realtor is a big decision because as you said, it's a large financial decision to purchase a property. Given that you're looking at multi-family properties, I would make sure to find an agent that has experience with such properties or is backed by a team with experience and knowledge in this area.

Above all, work with a realtor that listens to your goals and doesn't push their own agenda on you. I wouldn't rush this decision if there's just not a fit yet.

Have you looked for an agent in this community yet? I'm sure you could find someone who has what you're looking for and understands your goals on this platform. I'd check out the recommend vendors under the "Network" tab and see what you can find.

I'd find one that's 100% in on investors and has the track record/reviews to back it up. The one you love you'll find.

Hi Stephon,  To follow up with Colton, yes you need to find an "investor friendly" real estate agent.  Unfortunately, the average real estate agent is more sales oriented and deals with homeowners - that's what they know.  To find an agent that truly understands your vision find one that invests in real estate themselves.  They will understand what you need.  Good luck my man!

Hi Stephon, I would recommend finding a Realtor who is also an investor and maybe owns multi-family real estate. They will know the ins and outs of the deal better than most because they have experienced themselves. They will also be able to provide you with tips and tricks when it comes to leasing, renovating, tenant retention, etc.
