My first investment

Posted

Investment Info:

Small multi-family (2-4 units) private money loan investment.

Purchase price: $100,000
Cash invested: $100,000

I made a loan to an investor for the purpose of renovating a duplex rental

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

I lent to this investor with the idea that at the conclusion, if I liked working with this individual, he could teach me the ropes of real estate investing and we could invest equity in his next project. I got paid back in full, but did not like how he conducted business.

How did you find this deal and how did you negotiate it?

The investor was a friend of a friend

What was the outcome?

I got paid back in full

Lessons learned? Challenges?

I've got to pick someone who knows how to communicate well with his investors

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

No others involved
