My first house hack

Moumi Fall
Posted

Investment Info:

Single-family residence buy & hold investment.

Purchase price: $426,000
Cash invested: $22,000

This is a 4-bed, 3 bath home that I purchased in Hyattsville, MD. I currently live in one room and rent out the others. My mortgage is fully covered by my roommates.

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

I've always wanted to invest in real estate and decided to finally go for it after two years at my job.

How did you find this deal and how did you negotiate it?

I found it through Zillow, it was on the market for a while. I negotiated through my agent and asked for the highest amount that I could receive in seller concessions, and they also agreed to make all the repairs on my home.

Congratulations on your first house-hack, Moumi!

Sounds like you've built a solid foundation for yourself.

Great takeaway for the community here, sometimes high DOM is better than 'off-market'. Properties online (e.g., Zillow) have been testing the open market for a while to no avail, which can create major opportunities for investors.

All the best!
