Will county joliet property owners information

Question

I recently decided to start driving for dollars to find my next investment. I found quite a few homes of interest but I haven't put together a plan for contacting motivated sellers. Most of the houses were vacant with stickers in the window banning occupancy. Any advice on the best way to find the owner? Forwarding address? Phone number? I could harass my real estate agent for some of the info, but I hate to bother him on an off market deal since he won't be getting commission. Anyone have advice or experience specific to will county illinois?

What is the agency that posted the Window Signs? City, County, State, Building Inspector?  You could always reach out to the respective agency and see what they have to say. They also might know some building owners that are looking to get rid of their properties.

You should be able to get public records from the county and see mailing address for the owners.

Just Google property tax records and the county name.  I bet you find it.

Thanks. That's great to know. I'm getting excited to do another deal and want to try to find an off market house. That's what I love about this site. I spent years wanting to do this and not knowing how. Now that I've been a member here, I bought 2 rentals in just a couple months time.

I go to willcountysoa.com and on the left had side I normally click "Property Search"

You can search by parcel ID which can be found on zilliow or you can search by address but I sometimes have a hard time going that route because the spelling is crucial and it is case sensitive and you have to know the abbreviation for St, Ave, Rd, etc

Once the website finds the property, click "Treasury Tax Info" There you will find the owner of the property and will let you know also if they've been keeping up with property taxes. The down side to this is, sometimes the name and address are not updated frequently. You will find the owner and his address, but the address is the vacant property which clearly no one is living in.

As odd as it might be, I've found a lot of luck just googling the owners name.

Thanks. I knew I could get the PIN on zillow, I was just having a difficult time on the will county website. I was on the main page looking for info rather than following a link from zillow. I'll definitely check out these techniques. Thanks to everyone responding.

This works for me for Will County...

Look the property up on Zillow. That gives you the PIN. You may need to use the "More" link to expand the information and find the PIN.

Select the County Website link. This takes you to the assessor's office website. Enter the PIN manually to pull up the property info.

The Will County assessor's office website has links the collector's office for taxes and the recorder's office.

@Chris Carollo, Thats a great tip. I never thought about that. I do know the code enforcer for the county I'm looking at since she was the one that shut me down on my renovation and made my life hell for several months. Luckily I was cordial to her through the process and always tried to play nice. Hopefully it will pay off.
