Feedback wanted: Purchasing a property in competitive rental area

Good afternoon!

Do you guys have any advice/tips on purchasing a property in a neighborhood where the rent competition is high? Is there a way to offset/stand out from other renters other then fixing up the property ? I found a great property where the numbers align perfectly for me right now. but when driving through the neighborhood I found 6 homes for rent in less then half a mile down the same street. I told myself not to buy the home but wanted to see if anyone had any more insight on this before sticking with this decision.

Thank you!
