I would like to know when is a good time to appraise my home?

@Kevin Cespedes if you’re having an appraisal for the purpose of selling it, the buyer’s lender will direct that.

I actually want to appraise it so i can refinance the house and take the difference out if i worded that correctly.

@Kevin Cespedes Same thing - the lender will direct the appraisal.

@Kevin Cespedes - Yes as Charlie mentioned, once you choose a lender to refi with (or a HELOC if that route is better for you), as you go through the standard procedure; proof of income, credit pull, etc... the lender will schedule the appraisal to ensure the property's value.
