Finding an agent for investment property

Hello BP,

I am starting my search for investment property out of state (looking in Texas) but I was wondering if there is any tips or advice you guys had when looking for an agent. My current plan is to search some local agents in the area I want to invest and give them a call. Are there any specific questions I should ask them in regards to investment property?

I am a newer buy/hold investor in the Atlanta area. I have found that many realtors will say they have loads of experience working with investors, but when it comes down to finding properties, they often have no idea what a good deal actually looks like.

As you interview realtors, ask them to show you their portfolio of recent properties they have sold to investors, and ask them to walk you through the numbers on 2-3 properties. If they can't show you any properties they have sold to investors, or if their metrics seem incomplete, you are likely talking with the wrong realtor.

Hope it helps. Cheers!
