Postcards for direct mail

I haven't actually reached this point yet but I've been hearing that postcards generate better quality leads vs the quantity of leads that yellow letters bring. Because of that, I want to go that route once I start direct mail marketing. My question is what would I want to say on these postcards? Where would I find some good templates? What kind of images, if any, do I want to place on them? etc. I know it depends on who I am marketing to in particular but I would like to see some sort of script or example that I can alter to fit my own use.
