Contractors using PM or thumbtack

I have hired a property management company to manage a duplex property. They are providing estimates from contractors that are 20-40% higher than the vendors on thumbtack, and 2x in some cases.

What's your experience with using vendors by PM vs finding on your own using thumbtack?

 My experience using Thumbtack is that they are pricier or they are not as skilled. I am in SoCal and that's what I have run into in my searching on Thumbtack and never used that contractor.
