Broken AC in 3rd/top level condo

Hi folks!

I have a top/3rd level condo in Maryland and the AC just broke. I have an appt for Wednesday for someone to take a look which is the soonest I could get.  We did provide a portable AC unit which is working.

There is a heat advisory tomorrow and we are wondering how others handle this when the unit is hot and the tenants are complaining that the portable AC unit is very loud.

thank you!
