Advice on Energy Upgrades
Hi Everyone, I am looking for some advice on renovating, specifically regarding energy management.
I purchased a two-unit multi-family home in Canada that has the space to add two other units. The building currently uses natural gas for heating and hot water. My plan is to pass the costs of utilities onto the renters.
I am currently debating whether to extend the natural gas to the new units or to install heat pumps. If I add heat pumps, the government covers 25% of the cost.
The benefit of heat pumps is that they also dehumidify, which I believe will help the basement unit over the long term. On the other hand, I'd likely have to upgrade the electricity service and add hot water tanks.
Curious if you all have any suggestions on how to proceed.
