Should I get a Property Management Brokers License?

Arthur Luay
Posted

Hello,

I am working for a Property Management firm so I'm getting hands on experience.  My question is, should I get an associate brokers license as a way to make side income, (or Main Income) as I invest in properties, or would it get in the way if it becomes my main source of income?  I'm seeing that this takes alot of work working for other owners/investors so Would it even be worth it?

I work full time at a Mortgage Company which pays the bills and putting money away into savings for a Investment Property, while I work at the Property Management firm to gain experience to management my own properties.

Thank you!

Totally agree with Keith — it's a demanding business that really rewards full commitment. That said, it can also be a nice complementary venture for your investors if structured thoughtfully. With the right systems and support in place, it could diversify their portfolio and generate steady returns, especially if you're passionate and willing to go all in. But if it's just a side hustle, the regulatory complexity and stakeholder balancing act can quickly become overwhelming.
