One furnace, two unit electrical solutions
I’m a new home owner, I bought an older duplex with a forced hot air furnace that uses No2 heating oil. I had the electrical split, so I have 2 panels and 2 services. I’m currently living in one side of the duplex, and I pay for oil, water /sewer for tenants, they pay electric. The furnace’s electrical is tied into the electrical panel of the apartment I’m currently living in which is no problem for now. The issue is I’d like to move out in the future but need to get this fixed so the tenant who moves into this side of the duplex doesn’t have to pay for the furnace’s electric and just the electric they use. Looking back I should have put in a 3rd panel/service in so I could have the furnaces tied into that, or does a furnace like this not use enough electricity to make it worth adding another service? Does anyone have a potential solution or advice?
