Self Management Long Distance

Jacob Cornelius
Posted
Hello all! My name is Jacob Cornelius, and I’m probably about to start renting out a home in Cantonment, FL. But I will soon be living in Oklahoma! For those that self manage, especially long distance, how do you go about handling some of the more human issues such as showings, handing over keys, and inspecting the property between leases? I figure most have an agent handle showings, but who holds the keys? Do you just have the agent keep them and hand them over once everything is good to go? Do you have a home inspector come in between leases, or just a handyman with a checklist of what you’re looking for? Absolutely any advice is much appreciated! Thank you!

You will have to pay all those people for service every time, but YOU will have to spend the time to coordinate scheduling with them, chase them, pay them and eventually GUARANTEED you will have to somehow replace them.

At what point will it be worth paying a PMC to avoid all these headaches?
