I am helping my dad prepare his home to rent. He lived in the home over 50 years and took good care of it. However, it needs lots of different maintenance and repairs to get the house rent ready. I do not live in the area, and would love any suggestions of GCs who do good work at a fair price. The home is in San Jose.

Thanks,

Kim Allen

Has your dad rented properties before?

If not, I would strongly encourage him to consider engaging a professional local property manager, or at very least speaking with one.

Good ones will already have relationships with contractors, but more importantly they will know which repairs will move the needle most with prospective tenants.

Unless he's planning to make landlording a career move, I recommend he go with a quality pro, especially in tenant-friendly California!
