My husband and I will be taking over the management of our own rentals. Are there any resources you know of to help us inform tenants? Or maybe just a friendly letter will do?

Terrible or not, I would ask them to do send the letter or text.  It can save you so much time and hassle.  That said, most don't cuz they are not only terrible but mad.  We have some actively tell tenants no, we are still your manager we have no idea what you are talking about.  Super helpful.  Don't be shy on the 30 day notices, get them out quick if tenants are not responding as you have no idea what the old manager is doing to sabotage your efforts.
