Hello all.

I live in Orange County, CA. I am stuck here for a while and I currently work as a Registered Nurse, working 3 days a week. I love real estate. I am a hard worker and have worked 3 jobs before. Is real estate something that is sustainable to do 4 days a week? I know I can handle it if I can do it part time. However, I want to see what you have to say about where this county is going. I know currently, many people are leaving this area. Therefore, do you think it is sustainable? I would love to hear great steps to take if you have any advice. So many people LOVE California, aside for the taxes and possibly other reasons, I feel like there is hope for this area. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I did this for a long time as a firefighter and real estate agent. It took me longer than 2 years (I know you say that for the hours that are required for a broker). The pursuit is worth it, it is a little harder than perceived because a realtor into broker is really running a good business with good marketing, advertising and sales. I would give yourself a 3 years runway and change course the quicker you pickup speed to leaving earlier if possible.

When I worked both jobs it is what you say it is, a lot of work, you can do it four days a week. I would suggest if you take that venture and sit-down with clients tell them your situation and say you will work hard for them to get them into a home. If there are days they want to see places and you are working, I would suggest partnering up or finding someone that you can use as a "showing agent" and you do all the rest which is writing the offer negotiating etc.

It can be done trust me!

Real estate broker would be an ending goal. However, with my 4 year degree in the medical field, I understand that I would have to work equivalent to 2 years full time with a salesperson license in the real estate field. I would accomplish this as a real estate agent. To my knowledge, both real estate agents and brokers would be able to work part time. Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated. You could definitely work in RE 4x a week. Of course, you won't necessarily get the results you might like. However, I actually suggest you figure out exactly what within RE you want to do. Do you want to be a Realtor? Mortgage broker?  Property Manager? There are many things you can do. Figure out which one first and then you'd have to assess if it is possible. For example, property manager probably wouldn't work at 4x/week.
