House hacking in South Florida

Dylan E.
Posted

Hello all!

I currently own a condo, planning to sell EOY 2024 and move onto a house hacking a duplex in south Florida. Potentially Fort Lauderdale area, but I am very open to moving to the best area for real estate appreciation. Looking for any and all insight on real estate investing in the area, as well as anyone who has done it here / is doing it!

I will be trying to find a duplex for around $400,000. 100k+ to put down. 760 credit score. 22 years old. I am in my early stages but would love to get any insight from those who are more experienced in the area. It seems like an amazing opportunity for me to move to a much more desirable area with very low mortgage expense.

Thanks, and can't wait to speak with you!

@Dylan E. house hacking is a great way to get started. I house hacked a duplex in Ft Lauderdale several years ago (look at my old posts) and it was a great investment and experience. You can take advantage of lower down payments but you just have to make sure of your numbers. As far as price goes it’s very hard to find duplexes under $500k and most are between $600k-$750k. Good luck with your search.
