Recording phone calls?

Question

Anybody ever recorded their phone calls with potential sellers?  For me, it might be useful to go back and listen again to exactly what was said.  According to the internet (so, it must be true), Texas is a single party state.  So, as long as I am one of the parties on the call, I can record it without telling the other party.  This concept gets a little tricky during an interstate conversation.  Thoughts?

@Matt C.  I am going to start video recording all the steps I take in wholesaling so I can go back over and see the step by step process to get better.  Will it be a waste of time, depends what your definition of wasting time is.  I will probably do it to see what I can improve on as well. Good luck!

NC is also a one party state: Only one party needs to know that the conversation is being recorded.

@Matt C. If you're recording it to get better at being on the phone, then go for it.  And if you're deleting the recordings, then who cares if it's legal or not.  You are the only person who knows you are doing it.  Just don't ever try to use the recordings in court if it ever comes to blows.  But for self-betterment, yeah, go for it.

Thomas, I intend to get a headset.  Actually, have to get a new phone since my 2 year daughter decided to flight test my current phone.  It was not a successful test.  Actually that's not true, she thought it was great.  Daddy, not so much.  I want to be able to listen again to an objection and my response.  Hearing your actual response, not what you thought you said, can be enlightening.  For me this is important.  I don't think I would want to record calls forever. Just while I'm getting started.  I would probably play back parts of a conversation right after it happened then delete it.  However, I don't want to get into legal gray area, so I probably won't do it.  And it if takes more than $30 dollars and 30 mins to get set up, not worth it for me.

I doubt it's legal, couldn't be used, but if you don't disclose it to anyone I wouldn't see the harm.  Will it be beneficial....who knows.

Matt, I worked for American Express for a little while and all of the calls made were recorded , but had to conform to FCC rules & regulations. I don't know what the rules are now, but I believe you still need to be FCC compliant when recording.

I think you are wasting time doubling your efforts.  Just take good notes during the first conversation.  If you aren't using a headset to take the calls then I would advise you invest in one.  That way you free both your hands during the conversation.
