what is an absentee owner list?

does that mean the person doesnt live there?

so when i get a giant list of a thousand people that are absentee owners does that mean i need to research each one to find out their mailing address?

Yes an absentee owner is when the owners mailing address is different from the property address. If you "get" a list of 1000 absentee owners it should include their actual mailing address as that's how it's determined they are absentee.
