How does the current market affect wholesaling?

I would like to start wholesaling properties, but I am wondering if it's the right time. Due to all the foreclosure in the Atlanta area, I wonder if investors are sitting still. Also, I would like to learn how to read the market. Can someone point me in the right direction. I'm new to all this, help please.
