Potential pitfalls when buying from a wholesaler

I would like to start buying SFH from wholesalers for the purpose of flipping (I am self-financed)

1. In what ways the process of buying from a wholesaler is different than buying from any other owner?  

2. I was told that sometimes the purchase is not done with a title search and title insurance, is that true?

3. When buying from a wholesaler Are there any unique risks and if so how can I mitigate them?
