DIRECT MAILING QUESTION

Alexander Curtis
  • Sacramento, Ca
Posted

I'am a newbie and I'am getting ready to begin my very first direct mail campaign!. My question is how many pieces should I send out for my efforts to be effective? and how much does it typically cost to send out that number?

Also, Iam marketing to absentee owners can anyone give me any tips on what to put on my letters or postcards?

Thank You and happy investing

My understanding is that a 3% response rate is considered pretty good in direct mail. I have never gotten that high. That is not deals that is just return calls.

New investors often don't realize how much it takes. IF you were to mail out 100 you might get 0 response and give up. That is not a large enough sample to to give it a fair test.

I bet most investors do 500 to 2000 a month. The key in marketing however is not what others do, but testing what you do. Keep adjusting you mailings and testing the results. Marketers often do split test marketing. Send 500 post cards with one headline, and another with a different headline to see which works better.

Cost is anywhere from about .50 for a post card that you do your self to $1.00 or more for letters done by a mailing house.
